Trees for Miles

As household movers who travel thousands of miles and burn thousands of gallons of fuel a year, we know our business has "hidden" environmental costs -- we contribute to pollution and climate change but don't directly pay for the damage we do. Doesn't seem quite fair.  

So what do we do about it? We considerably reduce our emissions by fueling our trucks with 100% biodiesel made from waste vegetable oil from Iowa City area restaurants. In other words, the grease your fries were cooked in at Oasis or the Hamburg Inn may have helped fuel your move across town, and helped the planet breathe a little bit easier.

But we wanted to do more. In an attempt to further reduce our environmental impact, we've implemented a carbon off-set program called Trees for Miles™. Offered in partnership with Blue Marble Moving and the Clear Water Carbon Fund, our Trees for Miles program gives you the opportunity to purchase trees to absorb the carbon emitted for as many miles of your move as you wish. And to help encourage you, we’ll match you mile for mile: for every mile you offset, we’ll offset an additional mile. If you choose to offset your entire move, we’ll still double your money, and the number of spry little saplings you plant to gobble up carbon for the next half century or so. We're really excited about the program, and we hope you will be too!
